Jason received his Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation in 2002 and established his own practice. In 2004, Jason merged his practice with Peter McLaren to form McLaren Trefanenko Inc. (MTI). Jason is currently the managing partner of MTI.
Before establishing his own practice, Jason worked in both industry and public practice. He was an Accountant for Russell & DuMoulin, Barristers and Solicitors (now Fasken Martineau) and as an Auditor for Tompkins, Wozny, Miller & Co., Chartered Accountants.
Jason currently serves on the CPABC Public Practice Committee and the CPABC Professional Development Accounting and Assurance Committee. Previously, Jason served on the CGA-BC Board of Governors, was a member of the CGA-BC Public Practice Advisory Group and also served on the CGA-BC Discipline Panel and CGA-BC Appeals Committee.
He concentrates in the areas of Corporate Income Tax, Estate Planning and Business Consulting. He is an Associate Member of the Certified Fraud Examiners and a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation.

Jade obtained her Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation in 2012. In 2007, Jade obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University, majoring in Finance and Accounting.
She started at MTI in 2004 and became a Partner in 2015. Her services include personal and non-resident tax, corporate tax and accounting, not-for-profit and private corporation assurance engagements, and forensic investigations support.
Jade works closely with the Public Guardian and Trustee of BC to prepare personal tax filings and to advise on tax matters for their clients. As a result, she has extensive experience in preparing complex submissions to CRA’s Voluntary Disclosures Program and Taxpayer Relief Requests with a high success rate.
Jade advises her non-resident clients on Canadian income tax compliance relating to real estate transactions and rental income. She then coordinates the tax filings and payment of non-resident tax to Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
Jade is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), having qualified by examination in September 2013. She combines her accounting knowledge with investigative skills to provide litigation support in cases involving alleged fraud and fiduciary abuse.
Jade was appointed to the ACFE Vancouver Chapter board in November 2013 and currently serves as Treasurer. Jade is also a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation.

Heather obtained her Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA, CGA) designation in 2011. In 2002, she graduated from Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, with a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Management.
She originally joined MTI in 2005 as a student, and became a partner in 2015. She is currently the Manager of the firm’s Estates and Trusts practice area.
Heather’s work is primarily focused on Estates and Trust tax compliance, planning and accounting. She assists estate executors and trustees with the tax compliance and tax planning aspects of Estate and Trust administration. Heather’s trust tax experience encompasses a range of trust types, including testamentary trusts, trusts for disabled beneficiaries and minors, alter-ego trusts, spousal trusts, and other inter vivos trusts. Heather’s clients include executors and trustees who are administering a loved one’s Estate, as well as professional trust companies, the Public Guardian and Trustee of BC, and other professionals requiring estate and trust advisory services.
Heather has presented on estate and personal tax topics to various community groups and professional organizations. In addition to her work in Estates and Trusts, she provides personal and corporate tax and accounting services to a select group of clients.
Heather is a long-standing member of the Estate Planning Council of Vancouver and is currently serving as Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion (BACI).

Eileen obtained her Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation in 2012. In 2009, Eileen obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University, majoring in Accounting and Finance.
She joined MTI in 2009 and currently works in the Estates and Trusts area. Eileen provides Estates and Trusts accounting and tax services to executors, lawyers, and the Public Guardian and Trustee of BC. In addition, she prepares personal T1 tax returns.
Eileen assists with the firm’s tax filing deadline monitoring, documenting procedures and developing templates and forms for the Estates and Trusts team. She also contributes to the training of Simon Fraser University accounting co-op students.

Jane Andreev

Jane joined MTI in 1999. She is a Senior Accountant and primarily works in the business service area to prepare financial statements and review engagements for corporate clients.
She supervises and trains staff in personal and corporate tax preparation, and helps to manage the workflow in these areas. Jane also played a large role in standardizing corporate and personal client files.
In addition, she prepares personal T1 tax returns and provides accounting support for forensic projects.
As a QuickBooks ProAdvisor, Jane assists business clients in setting up their accounting systems and provides ongoing support. She also manages MTI’s in-house accounting software and helps to maintain internal IT systems.
Peter Baetsen, CPA, CGA

Peter received his Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation in 2009. In 2003, Peter obtained his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours), from the University of Manitoba’s Asper School of Business with a double major in accounting and entrepreneurship/small business.
Prior to joining our team in 2013, Peter worked at the North Vancouver District as a Financial Analyst. His previous experience also includes several years working as an Accountant in the finance department for an international company.
Peter currently serves as a Treasurer for the New Westminster Chamber of Commerce. Previously, Peter served as Chair of the CGA-BC Burnaby Royal City Chapter and volunteered with the Chapter holding various positions over 5 years.
Peter assists the firm in servicing our business corporate clients and personal tax clients. His services include financial statement preparation (Notice to Readers) and T2 tax returns, bookkeeping and payroll, and preparation of personal T1 tax returns.

Lester obtained his Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia in 2001. He joined MTI in 2007.
Lester is MTI’s manager of internal IT systems and is a Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist for Server Virtualization.
He has developed a sophisticated client database application and client portal site for the firm. Lester has created indispensible workflow reporting tools and also maintains MTI’s intranet site which stores and organizes the firm’s tools and resources.
Lester utilizes technology to increase accuracy and efficiency on complex client projects. He also provides services in the personal tax area by preparing T1 tax returns and responding to Canada Revenue Agency’s pre-assessment queries.
Peter McLaren

Peter received his Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation in 1974 and in 1979 founded McLaren & Co., which merged to form McLaren Trefanenko Inc. (MTI) in 2004. He was a member of the Certified General Accountants Association of BC (CGA-BC) from 1974 to 2014, and retired his membership in 2014. Peter was also a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE).
During his professional accountant career of over 30 years, Peter sat as a panel member of the CGA BC Disciplinary Committee for seven years hearing ethics complaints against members and determining disciplinary actions. He also served on several other CGA-BC committees and volunteered as a Board Member for various community organizations. In addition, Peter was as an Expert Witness in the BC Supreme Court, and at Mediation hearings. He also testified in Chambers and at Examinations for Discovery.
Peter retired from practice in July 2014 and currently devotes his time to the art of woodturning.
