After A Death Checklist

What to do after a death in British Columbia.

Recently my mother-in-law passed away, and my father-in-law asked that I assist with some of the paperwork required.  In searching for what is necessary to transfer the title of a car, I came across a checklist provided by the Province of BC.  The list helps you determine whom to notify and when.

The fair market value of your RRSP/RRIF account is included in income on your Date of Death T1. I am often asked who is responsible to pay the income taxes relating to the RRSP/RRIF – the Estate or the designated beneficiary of the RRSP/RRIF?
